2 Very Useful Cydia Apps

In this post, I'm going to talk a little about some of the most handy and most useful programs to download from Cydia.
Sometimes something wrong
happens to my iPod touch and I have to restore it. I then go trough the jailbreak process, and the first program I download immediately almost everytime
is iFile. iFile has so many
Possibilities, FTP server, Bluetooth file
Sending, root access, and so much more.

There is also another program that I have to have on my IPod since it's perfect. Let's say that you want to download a short trailer for one GOPRO skiing film, you find the download link for the trailer but then you remember, " I cant't download files from Safari!". Safari download manager is just the app for this, it gives you the ability to download trailers, pictures, and short music preview. You can download all sorts of files, zip files too. Just hold over the desired download link, and you've got it. But since this app costs money, 5 dollars I think, then there's a free alternative to this. It gives you almost the same possibilities, but not the same User Interface ofcourse. The name of the program is Safari Download Plug In.

Well, everyone that was my two most useful and handy programs to have on you're iPod Touch or iPhone. You never know when such a handy program can come in hand.

How to make your own Custom boot logo/animated boot logo, very easy!

First of all, it is so simple that everyone can do it. If you want to make an animation, then, first of all, every frame for the animation shouldn't be bigger the 100 kb, becouse it will be laggy if it's bigger.
But if you only want to make a custom boot logo, only one picture that the iPod Touch is booting into, then you can choose almost any size for the picture you like. It could be 1 MB and much more.

I don't know who made it, but he did a VERY good job with this amazing picture.

I have searched, but not found he's name, if anybody knows, then send me a message so I can write it down.

For example this picture:

If someone wants for example this picture as a custom boot logo, since it dosen't exist on Cydia, then the only thing you have to do is to first of all,

1.browse to the /Library/BootLogos/ on your iPod Touch/iPhone with some sort of file browsing program, like iFile(I use this), SSH(WinSCP), or something else.

                                                        I named this folder with the photo (on the top) "Star". :-)

2.When you have done this you must make a folder, whatever you want you'r boot logo to be named, then you find you'r picture and place it in that folder you just made.

3. You must name the picture you pasted into the folder that you made to be " 0.png " (without the "" ). "png" must be small letters and the number should be "0", since it's the first frame. I think you can use number "1" or some other number, but the the picture will show up later.

4. Then you just goto, setting, scroll down to BootLogo and choose the name of the folder you made and REBOOT!

5. DONE, and enjoy you'r own created bootlogo, but remember, if you want to MAKE you'r own bootlogo, then you have to create the picture and not to take it from another site, that's why we only made a setup for the picture, but we diden't make anything! :-D

Well, I use this picture as a boot logo for my iPod Touch, even though I diden't make it. :-)

My Top 8 Boot Logos For The iPod Touch

I have been searching around in Cydia, and after some time, I found the boot logos that were the most interesting and cool to use as a boot logo for the iPod Touch/iPhone.
I have made a list of my Top 8 Boot Logos down below.

How to get custom boot logos/animated boot logo on iPod Touch Firmware 4.3.2

Things you have to have:

-Jailbroken iPod Touch with firmware 4.3.2

Your firmware that is installed on your iPod Touch.

Felixbruns Website:(if you use one of those firmwares).

How to:

1. Connect your iPod Touch to the PC, and run the software Redsn0w.

2. When Redsn0w appears, on the first page, click "Browse" and find your firmware.

If you restored or updated your iPod Touch with one of the 4.3.2 firmware on the felixbruns site or any other site, then use that.

But, if you restored or updated your iPod Touch Firmware with iTunes, then you have to find that firmware on your PC.

Note: If you used iTunes to update or restore your iPod (most often) then you can find the firmwares,  that iTunes downloaded for you, in these folders:

Windows XP:

Documents and Settings\<User>\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPhone Software Updates

Windows Vista:

Users\<User>\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPhone Software Updates

4. Press "Next" and uncheck every option, but check the option "Allow boot animation". Do not check Cydia, since they can interfere with each other.

5. Press Next and follow the on screen guide on how to put your iPod Touch into DFU mode.

6.You are done! But if you want to get some boot logos and how to set it up. Then keep on reading.

7. Open Cydia, and go to "Sections", from there you choose "Addons (BootLogo)" and then you choose whatever bootlogo you like. 

8. Then go to Settings and swipe down, until you find "BootLogo" From there you can choose your custom bootlogos/animated boot logos, that you have downloaded. REMEMBER TO REBOOT!
