Premium USB Data Charging AV Cable for All iPod/iPhone/iPhone 3G (1.52M-Cable)-"THOUGHTS AND OPINIONS"
I bought this DealExtreme product 4 weeks ago and I am very satisfied. No regrets and very happy to finally be able to display my iPod Touch screen on my TV. Throughout my 3 weeks of using this TV-Out cable I’ve had some problems and solutions to everything that I wasn’t happy about.
I have mostly been glad after purchasing it but there were some problems that occurred and that you should be aware of before buying this cable. I will now go more into detail of the positive and negative aspects of this product; I will also give you some tips for usage and setup.
Here are my honest negative and positive thoughts about the product!
Productive Aspects
- The cable includes a USB charger that can come very in handy when watching movies and videos displayed from the iPod to the TV.
- The AV cable displays useful and good video quality. 480p is very good when taken in consideration that the cable costs only $3.19, while the original Apple cables costs $45.00! Both of cables are completely equal, the only difference is that the Apple AV-Out cable includes a verification chip while this one doesn’t. This can easily be solved, explained later on in the review.
- Extremely cheap!
Contrary Aspects
- When charging the iPod Touch/iPhone/iPod or iPad while displaying onto the TV, you can sometimes hear a “buzzzing”, noise from the TV, that will disappear and appear from time to time.
- You have to have a jailbroken iDevice if you want to display video to the television. Sound can be transmitted to the TV with no problems with any apple device.
- You have to buy a program for $4.00 from the Cydia store, if you want to your iDevice to accept the AV cable. This is still a very low price to pay, $7.19 to pay in total for the cable and for the program from Cydia. While $45.00 for an Apple AV cable costs 6 times more!
- A little worried for how long the cable will last.
IT IS HERE I AM SUSPICIOUS OF THE INTERFERENCE OF THE AUDIO CABLES AND THE USB CABLE
Final Conclusion of the product
The cable has all possible functions that an Apple AV cable also would have had, but without the verification chip. It is very well built, but I’m a bit worried about how long it will last. The look of the product is very nice and I have no negative thoughts about the design. It is disappointing that the USB charger interferes with the audio cables so a buzzing noise occurs once in a while.
Nevertheless, I’m almost 100% satisfied with the product and I couldn’t have been less dissatisfied. The cable is extremely cheap, it’s a “must”, have for all iDevice enthusiastics, for people who want to display it on a TV and for people who don’t want to miss this awesome offer.
I decided to give this product 5 out of 6 stars, because of buzzing noise and need for other software.
VERY GOOD PRODUCT! :)
I recommend this product fully and honestly to everyone that reads this and those who don't! ;)
TIPS
- If you want to use the AV cable, then you must download, “Resupported”, or “Resupported4” depending on your firmware from Cydia. The prices between these two programs vary from 2 to 4 US bucks!
- When downloading the software from Cydia, called “Resupported, or Resupported 4 to be able to use the cable, remember to also download a FREE program called “TVOUT2 Mirror TVOut”. This is needed so you can mirror applications and other miscellaneous stuff from your iDevice.
- To remove the buzzing noise when charging the iPod/iPod Touch/iPhone or iPad, just disconnect the USB cable from the charger or the TV if it has a USB connection.
